Be prepared to wait if he isn’t quite ready to tie the knot. He might have been ready to propose to you, and realized that mentally you weren’t ready for it, give him the same courtesy

Public vs. Private proposal

Most girls tend to want to be wine’d and dine’d. By making it a public display, the girl has a tendency to feel ambushed. Other articles suggest not buying a ring for him, unless you buy one for you as well. Only buying one is a complete gender role reversal and can be quite emasculating. The more sensitive you can be to possible problems the greater your success.

Focus on a gift for the both of you, anything from matching name tags, to a puppy. Don’t worry about needing to spend a lot of money, just get something meaningful to the both of you.
